Morning Walks

Here are a few photos from our walk on Wednesday morning.

Hi ~ Mama speaking here. I am thankful that my fur babies love to go on walks with me.

I originally started the walks in the morning when they were babies so they would know the property and not get lost. I remember the first time we went out front, they ran straight up the tree!

First I felt panic because I thought, OMG, what if they can’t get down…. Then I put on the tough love attitude and I told them, “You went up the tree, now you better figure out how to get down. Mama is giving you the tough love, figure it out!”

They were only about 5 or 6 months old. They figured it out. I helped them a bit. They kept trying to go down the trunk head first instead of turning around to climb down bum first which is the most logical way, of course. This particular tree had a very convenient branch that I was tall enough to be able to grab them and literally turn them around the correct way for them to come down bum first. Floki understood quickly and he was so amazing because then he taught the others. Floki is a big brother, teacher, he is so awesome. I have seen him go up a tree to help the other cats and encourage them to come down and you can see that he was trying to show them. Hey, this is how you do it!

Anyways, this was the beginning of my amazement in regards to cats and how our walks came into being. We go in the morning and at night. Then I started taking pictures and video of them and now they not only love going for walks but they seem to enjoy being photographed and filmed. Simply amazing!

  1. Your kitties are blessed to be able to go outdoors…I have to stay inside for my safety and health, as there are al kinds of vermin around here…I have some big windows with nice perches by them so I can enjoy all the critters from there…and in the warm weather, the ‘whiffies’!

At almost 16, I don’t think *she* is going to train me on a leash or anything like that….

    1. Your big windows and perches sound pawsome and sitting in the warm sun sniffing is something we like to do also, on winter days. Well, not so much sniffing through the window in the winter but you know what we mean. 😺

  2. Our kitties are house cats only because cars, coyotes and fox are too dangerous. When Mom lived in Germany, her one cat had to be allowed outside or he would pee around the house. He would sometimes go along with Mom when she walked the dogs in the evening as it was a short walk close to home. He came to the US with Mom, but after just 8 months went outside one night and we never saw him again. We don’t know what happened to him, but we assume the worst. Most likely a coyote.

  3. Walks are good and some kitties take to walks and others don’t. I’ve learned one thing about cats. They do what they want to do. Period.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to the kitties. ♥

    1. Ohhh, we do have a mind of our own and Mama is worried sometimes when we are off prowling around. ‘Tis the way when you have outddoor cats. We choose to spend most of our time indoors though either in our heated Barnage (Barn + Garage = Barnage) or in the house. We would say if your cats do not have experience outside there is no need to let them out, we are sure they are quite happy and safe inside with you. 😺
